Consumer Protection.

At the moment people are looking towards the restarting of schools,  the winter season and wondering how to protect themselves. How to do all that they can to stay healthy and well.  Its natural that they may consider supplementation to their diet (as part of a varied diet and healthy lifestyle). Its worth taking note that such supplements should not reference Covid 19 or Coronavirus in any label or advertising campaign. Foods or food supplements cannot be linked to preventing, treating or curing a disease.

This article from the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) highlights some common causes for concern when known ingredients with authorised health claims ‘contributes to the normal function of the immune system’ may be exaggerated.

I share this with you so that you can be aware of what is and what is not permitted, what could be considered misleading and what is the truth. WE are all consumers and the law is here to protect us.
